The Bill Emerson Bridge, opened in 2003, contains over 240 million tons of concrete. In fact, during a 48-hour consecutive pour in 2001, over 10 million pounds of concrete went into a pier that was, at the time, one of the largest concrete pours for a single structure in the entire state of Missouri.
